Come down to Bath and surronding villages ,colerne ,marshfield are nice rural community ,if a tad bit windy though.

Can vouch for Colerne , wifes family come from there vist a few times a year !! couple of good pubs ( fox and hounds & six bells ) good comunity ,lots going on , Rumours are they might be building on part of the airfield so hopefully a few more to boost the village .

House prices are bloody expensive though :nailbiting: although saying that after living in Germany for nearly 20 years all house prices in the UK are a rip off

I lived in colerne for past 3 years as half extended family lived up here,it is a very nice community
Out farm is in next village ,down in valley bathford which is another very nice village but lucky to find any properties with land.
We dont get any trouble from travellers anymore used to get them come in and ask about scrap but since the scrap laws changed no issues.

We are looking to replicate what we have here - around 25 acres some barns etc to allow us to have a small holding eventually, and some stables for the nags.

Don't know what your budget is but that sort of thing is crazy expensive in the Bristol area. Your best bet is M5 corridor so Taunton/Bridgewater.

If you want to be near Bath or Bristol is will be £,£££,£££s without the 25 acres and barns attached! Need to move East a bit toward Wilts I would say for better value.

Bath is a magnet for money, plenty of Aston Martins outside cottages at weekends etc in the north of my region.

I know people who commute from Carmarthen into Bristol, and one to London... o_O, but it pays well.

Prescriptions are free here, University fees are not, yet, but may be in the future. There may also be a Scottish style 'right to roam' in the future too. Property is more realistically priced that around Bath.

If you have £1m to spend, you can get a decent farm out this way.

If you get over the border into wales , and you have children, I think it’s free uni fees and things like Doctors prescriptions .

It isnt, but also do not think once your children are already at uni, that you can then get it free?
