Lockdown red tractor inspection

It costs less and there are a few less boxes to tick.
Don't ask which boxes as I haven't a clue 😄
Never heard of that option but I only need beef assurance for Barrens .
I paid around about £180 for beef assurance, asi have said beefore, not sure what if anything over and above dairy I’m supposed to have done other than write the cheque for them to tick a box.

they really are not helping given the current situation are they

joke doing it via video - they are just justifying their fees ! nothing more. zero credibility

disagree- I found it a lot easier by video. Don’t have much signal around the farm so just took videos the day before of all the bits I wanted them to see, and didn’t video the bits I didn’t want them to see.

would much rather video next time rather them come snooping around

That's interesting, as minor dairy beef would cover that for less cost.
Your assessor should have pointed you in the right direction really.

It could be argued that their failure to do that is a form of misselling as your overpaying for assurance you dont need or use.
I would certainly encourage you to raise it as an issue and even ask for all the years of overpayment to be refunded.
Be very interested in how that goes😁

Edit: actually now I've thought about it for a bit. Depending on how many barrens you send a year, pure Dairy assurance may be all you need.

Probably 30 Barrens Max per year.

I had something in the back of my mind that dairy assurance might cover me but barren buyer said not.

Granted I send most of my Barrens off to a private buyer but I only live a short distance from the local market, in theory I could milk a cow and have her in the market in under 10 minutes , it makes me wonder what could possibly happen in that time that would require paying for extra assurance but the cynic in me is convinced it’s just a way to extract some extra money for ticking a box.

Ahh, that is above the threshold for just dairy, so you would need some sort of beef assurance.
I agree it's daft as the barrens are coming from an assured dairy, assurance creep at its finest.

Do investigate minor beef though. If your buyer is insisting on unnecessary levels of assurance, perhaps suggest they pay for it😁.

My preference is to send direct but I did have one through the ring a couple weeks back to keep the old man happy.

Just had gestapo on fone they reckon they can still do on-site visits in lockdown.

I would question the legality of it myself as unnessecary

So are you... just saying...

Do you still do commercial grain storage? We're UFAS for ours. Got their inspection in January.

Just had ours with a few minor non conformanceS. Sort them out with in 28 days and all ok. The issue looming is when they move to a risk based system as they have in poultry and possibly pigs. I think it’s supposed to happen in the new year. Then any non conformances will hold more serious issues. No one seems to be aware of this which surprises me.

We've got a video inspection at the end of November. That will be a challenge as none of us are that confident with computer stuff or having to send pictures of anything anywhere.

Good tip about the disinfectant, thank you.
