Thanks for the infoMy neighbour had one - just don't expect it to cut heavy rush at more than 1/2 mph which is too slow for low range 1st on a quad. They may be OK on flat (i.e. plane) fields with light rushes, but the tussocky old stuff - forget it.
Thanks 'Magic7' for the input - just looked at prices and it appears to be cheaper than a LogicIf you really want a flail mower to go behind a quad look at one of these: http://chapman.co.uk/product/fm120-flail-mower/ We have a few Chapman bits and they are fantastically well built. It is stronger and more powerful than the logic and has a Honda engine which I prefer. Still don't expect it to cut quickly in heavy conditions though.
But it really depends how much you want to spend as you should sit down when you ask for a price on one of these. You could probably get a second hand compact tractor and flail mower for not much more!
Cheers 'PostHarvest', I'm now doing my homework on a Chapman having also looked at a Wessex.I agree with others. I borrowed a Logic flail as a trial to clear up a fenced off footpath but was very disappointed at its lack of power. I couldn't run the quad slowly enough to avoid stalling the flail. I ditched that idea and bought a 50 year old MF135 with a Bomford flail. I can cut waist high docks no problem at all now.
Thanks 'up northeast', we've got the big boy's toys but we have a mixture of hilly/rocky moorland and boggy areas where big boy's toys don't play so wellHow much would it cost to get a contractor to come in with a big boy`s toy. Do it in a fraction of the time
