Long distance slurry pumping

Oh, I'm quite aware it's probably a zero sum outcome! But if you could set up with an engine set, pipes, comressor etc for say 80k, over 5 years would it pay? Probably not, probably just as well stick to picking up the phone!
New engine pump would set you back the 80k on its own, then 40k on pipe, 15-20k on a dribble bar, 10k on reelers and a few spare bits and bobs..

Running costs for the distances your talking about pumping your probably looking at doing 1000m3 a day average,.. yes more is very much achievable but on average…
Your engine pump is probably gonna have £200 of fuel a day
Your man on the spread tractor is gonna have £150-200 a day
Your man running the pump/ reeling pipe/ checking pipes is gonna have £120-150
A day… arguably he’s more important and more skilled than the spread man and wants £200 a day
The spread tractor will have £250-350 a day costs if not more
So all in all Youv about £1 a m3 running costs ignoring your start up investment and the fact until you’ve done it for quite a while it really is a specialist thing and there will be some expensive disasters along the way

We run just over 3000m of pipe now,it never seems enough 🤣

To take the hassle out of double pumping you want a remote on the 2nd pump, there seems to be a competition to see who can quote the highest figure for an engine driven pump,no reason one shouldn’t cost sub £8k.

A new pump around the 5k mark the rest is easily achievable with another 5k, local farmer uses a scania tractor unit with the back axle removed and a Bauer pump in its place he has another hydraulic driven axle so he can move it around but you might not even need that

With all due respect, I think you're going about this "axse about face".

Flow, pressure, pipe and pump size can be calculated for you, the first thing you need to know is, what output you require at the furthest away point.

What is "fairy average runny slurry" ? 4%/5%/6%/7%/8%/9%/10%/11%/12% DM ???? This has a huge impact on outputs, and application rates as this also affects the nutrient values.

Don’t know your farm layout . Could you did a lagoon 1500 m from main pit ? Say 1500-2000 cube . Pump to that when wet or quiet . Then pump out off it to furthest away . That way you only need 2000 m pipe . One pump etc . Your buying 4000 m off pipe to only use 40% of the time . Less men less hassle . But with out knowing your farm layout hard to say . As every job is different .

Be cheaper to buy a new HD35 and old school magnum to stick it on 😎🤠
How difficult would it be to set a tractor up for remote control? Actuators for throttle/stop. Solenoid for pto, and solenoid for spool. Murphy gauges and a remote display of revs/temp. Surely could be done for less than 10k?

@davedb did it with one of his masseys and built remote control for his engine pumpset
