Long forgotten Livestock Marts

Not sure when the 1 by the railway shut but it moved across the road surounded by houses probably moved in the 50s
Always wondered if there was any photos of the railway sidings where the Irish cattle got unloaded,and where my grandad with his men loaded cows and bulls up on trains for export

We used to farm 1 mile from Crewe cattle market, I remember the split into 3 sites in the late 70s I don't know when the last cattle were moved via the railway. I know my dad said they also used to have regular sales of Scottish dairy cattle brought down by a dealer called Tommy bell.

Arthur and Herbert Bolton,they were some fellas,with their ERF I think leeches had when they packed up,Arthur used to look impressive with his horse and cart dressed to the nines doing weddings
The Boulton brothers lived at a small farm just outside sandbach, fingerpost farm I think. It's now privately owned and the land sold to an adjoining dairy farmer.
