Yes Chris SiswickI used to take fat lambs to Ponteland mart. JC was a main buyer lambs all weighed straight off the wagon. The auctioneer buys in Hexham now buys lambs and I’ve seen him buy breeding cows too can’t remember his name could be Siswick not sure I will need to have a think.
All got messy amongst the families and simply shut up shop. Bert George’s GGS Harry has taken up a lot of the slack, runs blue trucks, shame he didn’t keep with the red. I drove for them in the mid 80’s, loved the job and the times.didnt know that, just packed up or gone bust ? We used them if we had a lot to shift in one day, never charged much, good bunch of lads

Hello, I am the Curator for Sevenoaks Museum and interested to know more about your picture.
I am pretty sure the man between John Sevenoaks and Bert Kirk is my grandfather? Trevor Jenkins from Bwlch. He was a store cattle buyer at this time and we used to do business with the likes of Bert Kirk, Bob Plaice and many other farmer around South Wales. I remember the Geoff Kirk,s lorry and drag coming to our farm to collect cattle. They used to come to Sennybridge market also in those days. Berta lorry is now in Somerset and is owned by Alan Janes near Weston Super Mare and it is still looks good.Brecon mart 1970's. Leaning on the ring - 2nd from left is John Sevenoaks, 4th Bert Kirk 5th Val Stephens. Third from right is Jonny Griffiths of J&C Griffiths & Son, machinery dealers, Talgarth. Any other names?View attachment 855057
