Any ideas on prices?

Unless we get some rain on Romney Marsh soon, then there could be alot of store lambs for sale.

As for price............. where is that crystal ball. There will be some very long term poorly grown lambs in the £30's, several in the £40's that people have probably doubled their money on in the last few years, and some better ones in the fifties.

But if lamb stays at £2/kg plus, then that might rise by a tenner.

Disclaimer.....your investment in store lambs might go up as well as down !! :D

They 30 quid lambs will just die. Mid 50s is a cheaper lamb every time.

There is a certain person that buys alot of those 'also run' lambs cheaply in Ashford market.

Found out the secret to his success. He injects them with cydectin LA wormer and reckons the mortality rate is no higher than the better store lambs.

They hold their own selling liveweight as well. Unlike Blackies & Romneys which are often discounted.
I've never had much trouble selling a well fleshed blackie... never mattered if 34kg or 40kg always gone well. Best week this spring was 246ppk average. I smiled like a Cheshire Cat for he rest of the week! ? never tried Romneys. Don't see many of them up here!!
