Our recycled plastic has an expected service life of 50+ years. The posts aren't currently permissible in FG1/FG2 schemes but we are working on it...

I’ve just bought 700 pressure creosoted 90mm machined posts…they had one cut in half and it had gone right through. Apparently they are made by the company that makes the telegraph poles….they certainly look excellent posts and the stench of creosote off them is unreal….time will tell whether they last
Supplier and cost would make the post relevant in some way.

oops, I will ask Mark, next time I have to get some posts from him, I know Morgan's of Aberystwyth sell some sort of Creo posts, but I have had a lot of tanilised posts from them in the past (when they were under a different ownership ~ Mount Trading), and those posts were very quick to rot, so I have been a bit dubious of their creo posts.
they also sell redwood posts, any good

Current dilemma is the posts supplied by the local merchant, which all round here use, have trebled in price in the last few years to £8, incl vat, and, from personal experience, have a lifespan of 4 - 5 years in many cases. Cheap, rubbish imports.........but they conform to the required standard.

We're getting a local sawmill to chop ours, conforming to the RPA requirements :

"Use softwood timber that is fully peeled, coated with wood preservative and pressure treated, or treated with an HSE approved industrial wood preservative, to comply with Use Class 4 as defined in BS8417:2014 ‘Preservation of Wood - Code of Practice’. You can also use untreated durable timber as set out in the Forestry Commission guide to forest fencing."

A mix of pine and larch, both classed as 15 year durable softwoods.

Just to check what untreated durable posts are people using I have fair amount of grant work to carry out, I have been using uc4 post and strainers from a local supplier and they are ok to work with but I don’t have much faith in their lifespan. Just wondering what others use, what they get on with and price comparison
Thanks

Uc3 are treated once and don't last,uc4 are treated twice with the same stuff that doesn't work anyway. We had some treated larch stakes 12 years ago and they're still perfect but supply was sketchy.A couple of local firms selling them now again
