Long pipe on Vac slurry tanker

I’m thinking of hiring a bigger tanker for a couple of days to do some longer leads. But wouldn’t be able to get right up to the reception pit. Would probably only get within 25 yards. It is level ground and can keep reception pit full (out of a tower). Would using a long pipe (6”) make much difference to fill times? It will be quite thick slurry.

Your problem could be with thick slurry & a long hose it will suck the hose in

Those where my fears. Been having another think about it this morning and we can get much closer to a slurry duct, so should be able to fill from there if we keep it full.

Reduce size of pipe to 4 inch

Is this a slurry tower your emptying that you pump slurry into? Could you hire a top fill tanker and sort out a way to get a longer pipe from the pump?

I think we are sorted getting to a duck. We do pump into a tower and I do have the long pipe for the pump, however the pump died last winter and we filled most of the tower the last time with the tanker, which is slow. Which reminds me, another thing to get sorted before lying in time.

My old tanker is a star 1500 that can get to the reception pit, but the tyres are about done. Have some longer leads, so hiring in a bigger tanker to do them. Often just pump it, but is too thick to pump and tower is full so can't water it down.
