I'm hoping the relatively prolonged dry spell isn't coming to an end, just when we all start thinking about March groundwork...:(

Dried up more in the last three days than it did in the entire "dry" December & Jan. Will soon dry when we get some 16 degree day temps and some strong sun. Only takes a gentle breeze then.

The theory that un-tilled land, with a good cover crop on it over the winter, will travel "dry" in the spring, clearly does not apply to roadside verges. Seen some messes around and about!
As an aside, never seen so much mole activity as I have this year - obviously the worm count is high!

It's obviously grim up north! 35mm between now & 5th March according to Weather Pro here this morning. It looks wintry next week so you're not missing out on much in the way of good growing conditions. What's the problem? Had you booked a skiing holiday for late March? :p

The downside of what you & I are doing is the need for patience - the ploughmen will be going for a week before you & I can move. Tony Reynolds told me to be direct drilling a week earlier in the autumn and a week later in the spring. Look on the bright side - we didn't spend all of February ploughing :)

Strange you should say that about moles............as a none-farming member of the general public, I have also noticed an increase in mole activity and those mole hills are popping up in the strangest of places.

To be fair, the verges do get 4 or 5 times their share of rainfall off the road surface. They are also a fine example of the consequences of untimely travel on waterlogged land, so often are found bottomless when all around is dry.

Despite rain yesterday and showers today wind is drying a surprising amount.

Needs to stop raining here first :) been at it since 11pm last night on and off. Looks like it might have cleared by 7pm. They were forecasting 25mm for us from Doris but so far I think it's been a lot less than that

I found it easy to keep going with the Nitrogen today, even in the winds. I added some water in, and got the pressure up to 3.5 bar through the QuintaStreams. They blasted it down into the soil perfectly! Managed to get 130 acres done!

Did a quick tour this evening looking for fallen down trees. Wind has dried fields surprisingly. Considering going again tomorrow.
Spent all afternoon driving round roads that our fields boarder cutting up fallen trees! As you say though wind has dried things up nicely especially as we got nowhere near the forecast amount of rain we were supposed to!
