Hi Mike, just interested to find out if you are still growing the landrace wheats? If so how are they going? Trying to obtain some seed to drill this Autumn.Yes I have several but it is not legal to sell or even give them away such is the stupidity of the law regarding wheat seed. If it is not on the common list then the law is clear that they should not be used except in participatory breeding schemes.
I have noticed that the policing of this is rather underwhelming as the thatching boys have been moving seed around to keep the old tall wheats going.
Most of mine are in the multiplication process and will undergo milling tests this harvest. I should imagine we may be looking at having more members of the 'breeding scheme' from harvest 2017 onward.
I have a 15 acres of a milling landrace that is for is to mill this year if all goes well there may be call for a new 'member' this harvest but no promises.
May be an idea to talk to John letts Google him he has been growing these for a while.
One hell of a learning curve some are tetraploid so be careful as to any sprays that are unsuitable for durum and sell the fertiliser spreader.
Yes as a matter of fact last autumn i sowed all but one field as heritage wheats. I can add you to the list for seed this autumn if you wish just email me at [email protected] and we can go from there.Hi Mike, just interested to find out if you are still growing the landrace wheats?
