Hi
I’m looking for advice on these models of backhoes. What are these like for farm work, ditching, digging etc? A lot cheaper than JCB3CX! Anybody selling?

Hi there , we will have an L reg Fermac 860 to sell soon. We are doing a few jobs to it then it will be ready to sell. Reason for sale is that we have bought a loader tractor instead.
It has the 4 in bucket , pallet forks on the bucket and a few buckets on the back.

Worth keeping an eye on Pyketts, McCleans and HRN Tractors too.

My brother has a 1998 860 which the farm has owned from new. It did all of the handling work including pushing up silage until they bought a Volvo shovel 14 or 15 years later. Front axle has been tightened up lately but it has been reliable although the paint was never great on it. This one has a standard dipper arm as it was bought for predominantly loader work and we thought the extra weight was unnecessary having had a 50HX before that.

Being a MF/Fermec man myself I would say they are the best back hoe made, you want a late square cab model as they have the better more reliable Danfoss hydraulics with ride control ,a turner 4 speed trans but a early will have 4 speed with 5th overdrive and no Ride control, stay away from the first round cab model Fermec it was there first crack at a digger and changed the gearbox and hydraulics and the rear axel for cheaper stuff to maximise profit with mega reliability issues .

The perkins 1004 is bomb proof , In my 27 years of them only having to change hoses due to age and the front axel seals a few times and a brake master cylinder

wide front tyre keep you up in the soft stuff and give extra grip when needed
fast 160 lpm hydraulics with a class leading front loader lifting over 3 ton
21 feet of reach on the rear is a full bucket extra , than jcb ect
and a good heater

They are just as happy on a farm as a building site , a tool on the silage pit with a grape on, good for loading the muck spreader, you get a big tiptoe bucket on for grain used to have a 2 ton one, they make a good fencing tool carry your wire ect in the rear bucket and put the post in the front and use the bucket as a post knocker. good for ditching as that 21 feet rear reach give's you that extra bit and the big tyre's help not marking the ground the same or pulling you out of the slop. The back hoe is a bit high for lower farm buildings you just need to remember to lower it down.

My 1998 Fermec has 7300h and is away to get a full paint and restoration including hoses bushes ect this winter she will be for sale one day and will probebly return what I paid for it in 2001

Hours are 16000 so its done a few hours. Engines good in it and i started it this morning at the garage and sounds good. She's been standing there since Christmas. I understand there's quiet a bit of demand for diggers now. Im waiting on the mechanic to repair 3 rams on the back actor, 2 seals gone and one cracked ram, extending boob is not extending , stop switch doesnt work so i stall her to stop and it needs a new manifold put on her. Other than that she's good.
Whats her value as she is? Like i said she runs tidy and in pretty good conditon .
Thanks.
