Me and my two sisters and their families are looking for a for some land to get started and build something that can provide self sustainability for generations to come, with plans to buy our own land a few years down the line.

we ideally would like something in the Barnsley, Rotherham or Doncaster area.

we plan to farm poultry for meat, eggs and hatching eggs, and also mixed crops in polytunnels.

anything is appreciated, 1-3 acres is more than enough for us to begin our venture. Road and water access would be ideal and we’re happy to help the farm Owner if needed as any extra experience in different areas will no doubt benefit us too.

I am a web developer by trade too, I know there’s a lot of farms - (at least close to me) without any online presence. More than happy to wiggle a fresh website into the deal if this interests you.

we would be looking for a 2-3 year lease with rolling terms after the initial lease, so that we have time to get somewhat established.

appreciate you taking the time to read this😀

Rejuvenating swards: Which option is best?

Maintaining grass quality during mid-season grazing is important. Farmers can maintain quality by entering ideal grazing covers of 1,300 – 1,500kg DM/ha, and grazing down to a residual of 4cm every rotation.

If you are now in a situation where cows are not cleaning out paddocks as well as they should be, leading to the development of steamy grass within the sward, here are some options.

Common options for rejuvenating swards include:

  1. Take a silage cut, probably into bales, remove the material and start again with the aftermath...
