Bruce Almighty, you said if they reopened the mines they would not be queueing up for jobs thats very true ? its like alot of people of workable age nothing physically wrong? just dont work because it pays better on benifits, will all have them round here ? that and a bit of cash in hand ducking and diving ? Thats why the welfare state in this country will soon have to be overhauled? the country is in massive debt the interest will soon cripple it ? Why do you think all these people want to invade us in little boats? because here unlike where they come from you gets things such as free health care and free money for nothing? But its not free? someone has to pay for it ?
eventualy we will have to stop being politicaly correct , that might strajghten the job up.

I got my begging letter today, when ever I finish drilling I might have a look to see what's being offered, but as I would need to do a CPC and would need a refresher course on hours, the offer had better be good!

Mate was chatting to a driver yesterday who had handed his notice in which seemed crazy when you would think drivers could name there price, he said the real reasons were not being mentioned on the news. The list of his moans as follows- Poor wages, poor work/ life balance, Many lorry firms will not pay for drivers to rest up in secure compounds, this week many had had the fuel stolen while they slept. Sick of using laybys as toilets, no showers etc. CPC's, medicals, limit on driver hours have all taken a toll. Not being allowed to be self employed anymore caused many eu drivers to go home, not brexit.
The IR35 law would have been illegal under the EU freedom of Labour, Capital, Goods and Services. So Brexit allowed this.

Generally seems to be the case that the “powers that be” make things too difficult then after a while there is a critical shortage of essential workers and a difficult to reverse crisis.
It will probably be sprayer drivers or forklift drivers next when people get to point where the rigmarole just isn’t worth the rubbish pay and conditions and the responsibility.
Edited to add farming is going the same way fast.

That’s right. And they don’t seem to realise that people will only put up with so much. My cousin self employed electrician now retiring early due to having to pay £1500 a year for various compulsory continuing professional development. All a rip off on the ordinary man. He’s not even trusted to add a spur to a ring main now and it’s getting to point where if he finds any small problem he has to insist on a complete rewire which he says is completely unaffordable for many. Country has lost all sense of pragmatism and realism but lives in a tick box world which in no way guarantees any sort of real competence or proficiency.
I drive a sprayer. In 10 years the number of tick boxes on the HSE section of the job sheets I receive has gone from 1 to 28. Result is you don’t even bother with them as you’d never get started. It’s gone mad.

Been a conservative government for an awful long time now so we know exactly where the blame for all this rubbish lies, endless rules & regulations made by idiots that have never done an honest days work in their lives that will bring this country to it's knees before too long!

All to blame not one of them any better than the other .
And we the silent majority allow them to do it, much like this new ELMS fiasco which we will all be moaning about in time! We thought the SFP was complicated enough for Defra to get right when all we had to do was provide accurate maps & grow three crops, even then their satellite was forever changing field sizes, can you imagine the endless faults they will find in a points bases system!

Yes I had one. Predictable Gov letter impersonal and no contact details for the undersigned

I found the Baroness' email address and sent a mail

Dear Lady Vere
Might as well give up at that point, I met the lady once when she was on the shortlist to be our mp, we were all so impressed she came 4th out of 4. As she was on David Camerons A list we were meant to put her 1st. She tried many constituencies before the 2015 election, not one would have her. Call me Dave gave her a leg up to the Lords in his resignation honours list as a consolation prize.

Have to say we’ve had no issues at all to be honest. All early sold grains were picked up bang on time, although we do sell to smaller buyers who tend to use smaller family operated haulage companies running just a couple of trucks mostly. Also had seed delivered virtually on time. Fuel deliveries are 2-3 days from ordering. So we haven’t really seen any issues to be honest that directly affect our business.

They have no idea about logistics or the life of the ordinary working man or woman. Our local town been crying out for a bypass for 40 years. Major A road stills goes right through the town centre. Takes me half an hour at times to get half a mile through it due to delivery vans parked on it. There was a route for a bypass but the planners built a housing estate on it. The same planners that tell you how to feck up your planning application by insisting on all sorts of inappropriate unwanted out of character and costly features. We have one industrial estate with only one way in and out. A post office sorting depot in it so dozens of parked cars line the access road. Total nightmare for HGVs. Completely undersized and poorly designed. Nowhere for HGV park up overnight other than crappy lay-bys where they’ll get their diesel nicked. 40 years of total failure on investing in infrastructure. Too little too late or nothing at all. It’s been Conservative here all that time but the others are no better. No politician works for commerce and industry, the very thing that keeps the country alive.

The number of curtainsiders that come in for spuds that have been slashed is ridiculous, even if they leave the back doors open sometimes they get slashed, who'd be a trucker!
