Does anyone know about the process used with sidewalls? I thought they had a lot of wire in but perhaps not nowadays, what happens to the tread and ,assuming it gets burnt/recycled, why not the sidewalls too?

the tread is mulch up in horse ménage filling. The bead on them is so thick it takes a lot of work for the shredder so they prefer to cut out and sell the sides

Was good money for export to India, so they took the lot , but not now , so they use what they can for sidewalls and only have the tread to get rid of , when they asked me if I could move the thousands of tyres they had I took it at that , it's was only after I realised it's quite slow and very hard work cutting the sidewalls off , we shifting around 1200 a Month

Thanks. There’s always the assumption someone’s making some unfair cash out of the job. Maybe that isn’t so!

Isn't there a lot of wire in tyres or have they done away with that now? I’ve always seen quite a pile of wire after recycling day in November.

The wire in the sidewalls is very fine and soft,not something to worry about.

The bloke at Carmarthen who is doing sidewalls built his own machine to cut the tyres up
Can’t remember his name though
