After losing our old dog about a year ago and the big dog just before that we have finally taken on a new dog that The Dogs Trust were having a problem re-homing because no one wanted him. Here is his re-homing vid .... the boy can sure move and jump about, which is somewhat surprising when if you watch the film you'll see he is missing some body parts :D Glad to say he has settled in well.

Lost my last mate today, made it to 16 so not too bad, she was Deaf, partly blind and on tablets for lack of cartilage in one knee joint, lately the other leg started letting her down and she was also drinking a lot of water which points to kidneys failing.

38 years and always had a dog in the house until today.

It is without doubt the worst thing ever to deal with , and we still keep having them!
She looks a beauty , reminds me of an old cab mate , very much missed.
Feel for you.

I think I ve gone soft in my old age I feel for you they become part of the family so they might as well be humans so it's okay to grieve. Unfortunately one of our cats was run over and badly injured which because of the injury it was the end of the road for this young cat gutted doesn't come close

Ive said it before on here - and I will say it again, I love my dogs more than I like people, as they want nothing more from you than food and kindness - and you are rewarded for life with eternal loyalty. I whole heartedly understand your pain!!

Lost one of my cats when wife was in New Zealand last year. This is her a few months prior at 18 and a half years of age. Still got her same-age black and white sister which is now 19. That's 98 in human years apparently.

This one now costs a fortune to keep, what with 'happy pills' because she's depressed after losing her sister, regular injections for a long term lung infection and Metacam drops for when I feel that arthritis is troubling her. And the food of course.

Sorry to hear it. I'm sure many of us here feel and share you pain. It's bloody hard when it gets to that stage.

thats my mate to the left, 4th lab, all b4 sadly missed and replaced asap.
This one is snoring on the sofa beside me............spoiled but i dont care.
sorry for your loss

When I was growing up, whenever we lost a dog Dad would get on the phone the following day and call round breeders until he found somebody with a litter ready. Didn't matter the distance, we'd have a puppy in the house within 24 hours of the old dog going. It was the only way he could manage.
My own dogs now are 5 and 7, so hopefully I've plenty of time before I have to worry about it, but I know there'll be a bloody big hole to fill when they go.
