My alopecia means my immune system is this week, mostly attacking my hair follicles which it sees as "foreign bodies".

Treat your body like a temple - eat and drink well, rest and sleep when you ought to, make time for recreational exercise and generally immerse yourself in life.
Don't be too clean, ie you do still want to challenge your immune system or it will become worse; just as minds and muscles get weak if we don't use them, we must get grubby and mud on our selves on a regular basis . Generally I would say I am "grubbier than most" but it is for a reason

I'm very lucky in that my condition means I can easily monitor my health - if I start getting run down, my hair begins to grow!
So being self aware is great, it lets you manage your condition rather well.

I think that the bad immune system is a number one problem today. I really suggest to use some tips like Blessed CBD which is helping to reduce pain and also to add some more immune to your body. CBD is a legal way to maintain your health.
Sunshine will greatly help to cure about anything that can be cured from the blues to any disease.
But obviously you are a fan of CBD, i have never used it, but i would like to know what the attraction is to it. does it really help? does it have any side affects?

I have only recently become aware that steroids I have taken all my life affect your immunity and with covid you need to be careful.
63 years and you learn something new every day :)

I would add, look after your micro biome, maybe drink Kamboucha and Keffir. I brew my own Kamboucha (you can buy a SCOBY from ebay)

Very good point! i can't believe that didn't enter my mind, but i prefer using yogurt to maintain a healthy live stomach culture, it is really easy to make your own if you have access to fresh milk that hasn't been pasteurized homogenized etc, you may need to buy your own milk cow to obtain such milk legally.

I think the idea of making your own is good, all the "shop" yakult type things have so much sugar in, I think they are all hype an no substance

Probably a load of rubbish but early in the Covid thing I saw a video on the benefits of cold showers. One of these was a boost to the immune system so quite relevant at the time. I went for it, have 3-4 a week now which involves simply having a normal shower then turning the shower heater off (so cold mains not just cooler hot water) for 30 seconds. Try and do more but don't worry if can't. Keep turning as one area of skin will get used to the cold. If I'm washing my hair I wait and rinse with the cold - that's certainly effective!
Certainly wakes you up, and seems to make me feel better (alert and happier) for the time of the morning. Just that might boost the immune system a little, who knows?

I have heard of cold showers before. i do think they have benefits but i found a hot shower helps me relax enough to where i can get an exceptionally good sleep at night. cold water makes the body tense up.

I have heard lots of good things about cold water swimming, I think you need to go at least once a week, I would do it if I lived nearer the beach, but at 45minute drive, that takes out really half a day, I suppose if I really wanted to I could dredge out the pond in Cae Ceffyl (when it was dug out originally the children swam in it every day all summer ~ but that was probably 18 years ago, and it has filled up with weeds and mud since then). I have read that if you cold water swim every week you develop a layer of brown fat and dont get that shortness of breath either when you drop in. Really healthy, I think there are clubs like the one that swims in the serpentine in london or the Blue Tits in Pembrokeshire ( I went on a new moon swim in Solva a couple of years ago in November for Paul Satori Hospice with them).

Sorry to hear about your infection. The good news is you will get through it one more time. We take our time like the turtle, we walk slowly but surely. I try to stay away from anyone who has flu or is coughing. My white blood cell count is low and keep dropping so I do the bed I can to manage.
May you feel better soon.
