Low loader/livestock trailer

I've recently been thinking about getting a mini low loader for moving a machine, silage bales and tonne bags of feeding stuff. I'm also thinking if it would be possible to have a low loader that you could put a livestock container on aswell. Obviously the ramps at the rear would need to be altered so it was one big ramp rather than in two parts. So that it could load livestock too. Maybe need to do away with the beavertail too or a wedge might work. I can't see how it would not work though? Probably have to get a manufacturer to make a bespoke trailer as I've never seen one before. Has anyone seen something like this or know of any reason why it wouldn't work? Thanks

This is no help to you , if I needed similar trailer I would make one myself

go for a hook loader on small wheels and a lot essayer to put the livestock box on or a flat one man 5 mins to swop and no loader or jack legs needed

Beaver tail trailer like that is what you want


You don’t want to be messing about removing and reattaching lowloader ramps +hydraulic rams or springs + the trailer lights

Cheese wedge ramps. Livestock box with its own floor plonked on top. Chain it down using machine chains located with pegs on box would be my design.

Depends where you want to go with the trailer but bevertails aren't very good off road clearance better with hydraulic bevertail as above

There’s a good chance a trailer like that will be taken in and out of fields to load. If it is you’d be better off with the mini super singles as dual wheels are buggers for filling up with mud and depositing it on the road.

Just a 5.5 tonne machine at the moment but will upgrade to an 8 tonner soon.

I wasn't thinking of detaching ramps. I thought that a ramp the full width of the trailer would be possible to design. That way it could be used for both jobs. That beavertail would be ideal but would need the backend to touch the ground to load cattle.

A hydraulic beaver tail wouldn’t necessarily have to reach the ground to load cattle, more likely it would be locked in the up position to form a flat deck and the tailgate for loading livestock would form part of the stock body

If it was my money, I'd aim to buy 2x trailers (maybe not at same time!) . Firstly something like a bailey hydraulic flat bed for a 8tonne digger. Handy bed height to walk onto and capable of carrying other items. Then a plain bale trailer on mini supers which could hold a stock box. Sounds lavish, but a big bevertail trailer will be a big, heavy and expensive lump of kit.

If it was me I’d have a Philip Watkins hyd beavertail trailer with a demountable livestock box.

A cattle container will have its own drop down door
