At one time poorer barren cows weren't getting a bid at market and the better ones were not making much so the auctioneer booked down so many to each buyer for 10 quid

I think modern society is brainwashed in to just wanting more and more. There is no saving for something and the final satisfaction of then getting it any more. It's how all the big companies make their profits, keep the masses always wanting.

Ah, that old chestnut. I remember that one from the 70s and 80s. When the world population was 4.5 billion. Its now 3bn more and ex-farm prices are way below 1980 ones in real terms. Population growth didn't help us over the last 40 years, why should it over the next 40?

The problem is how news is reported these days, we only get opposite extremes as it promotes discussion, clickbait and data/social media chatter.

Its either.... "really bad for all of us...." or "really good for someone else".

Reality is it is "somewhere in the middle" like it always has been.
