Lower disturbance subsoiler

So far it’s been pretty good, although I suspect that the bill for wearing parts is going to mount up pretty quickly.
It doesn’t pull up soil to the surface and leaves things nice and flat to drill into.

I put Metcalf legs in our old flat lift

seem fairly low disturbance the middle is much less though as the 2 behind the wheels run where the tyres are scratting at the surface so look like they are pulling more up.

they have about 120 acres on them now and the hardened ends tips and wing ends look as good as the day we put them on

We are using an Erth Panbuster now and it’s doing an ok job. Very easy pull compared to others looking at the spot fuel rate.

You can get a narrower bottom shin that should give lower disturbance, though I would think it wears faster.

I've got these on our trio, but they were welded on at the wrong angle so it is wearing off the underside of the point...

Metcalf’s welded ours on as I didn’t have time and thought they might make a better job.

does a very nice job but had all four wheels going round And not going forward with those 3 at 10” deep at times

Something else to consider.
Two people have told me this autumn that they subsoil twice at different angles. Rather than low disturbance, you get an even surface by levelling up with the second pass.

Yes that’s the ones . We brought some steel the same size as the original legs drilled them and just bolted them on . We’ve used these for the last ten years and they work really well . Also can easily swap back to the original legs if deep work is needed .
Hi, how deep do you work the pluton legs, how long do they last and do you know what thickness they would be please?
I’m converting a Ransomes Subtiller to low disturbance and looking for a suitable foot, such as he-va, sumo or quivone.

Hi the pluton legs work well at 6”- 10” deep , we’re not on high wearing land so they last us quite a while at a guess 1500 ish acres . The leg itself from memory is 15mm Hardox .

The new style Mzuri rehab makes a very good job really like ours
Do you know why they are now only shear bolt legs, whereas the first model was auto reset, and did you have a previous model before this one?
Also how do the points/wings wear, do they have tungsten on?
Thanks

I did not have an old one never liked the look of it. As for hydraulic reset I think it’s to stop the slight bounce you get on the rams as they cause more disturbance with the angle of the wing changing. The points and wings are tungsten but not done enough yet to Say on wear rates
