LP UK Plant Sales

It's easy to be wise after the event and those scammed will obviously not be taken in the next time. I have been buying and selling on the internet for years and thought I was savvy to all the scams but I was wrong. The tale from LP Plant Sales is always the same ie Sold on lease, owner couldn't pay, cost is for remaining lease payments only etc.
I am aware that a number of authorities are chasing the culprits so lets leave it to them, those scammed have lost their money with little or no chance of getting it back, lets hope we have the opportunityand satisfation of seeing those guilty caught.
All we can do now is warn others and hope.

No I didn't get them on the phone tried a few times but didn't suspect anything they could have been busily or not in a position to answer at that time I was in a hurry to get it on to a job and I was supposed to have in it in 4 to 5 days
What telephone numbers did they use

I have read about this before but sadly it is too late for those of us scammed by this fraud and it also relies on the banks to decide if the individual has taken sufficient care in their dealings. As the banks will not disclose anything about the fraudsters or their bank accounts it is impossible for the individual to argue that the banks are in the wrong, but it is a starting point.
Has anyone heard anything from any bank in relation to this fraud case.

Note to all
I have asked The Financial Ombudsman Service to comment on Natwest Banks handling of my case and they are currently investigating. If you havn't already asked The Ombudsman to comment on your case in this fraud I would suggest that you contact them immediately. The complaint forms are available online ad can be submitted by e mail. The more that complain the better the case so do it NOW, we have nothing to lose but a lot to gain.

If a dealer appears to be selling too cheap then you need to ask yourself some serious questions!
A dealer is there to take a margin and make a profit.
Why would it be cheap ?they are not a charity!
People are being caught out on the pretence of thinking they're getting a bargain.

Not necessarily. It's difficult to know the value of things if you are not in the loop.
I often see things that look cheap but for whatever reason they are not a popular secondhand buy.

That might have been the case years ago but nowadays you can cross check prices
using the internet .Thats what happens at farm machinery sales regularly!

If a well known brand looks thousands cheap on a well known trading site then its not rocket science:(

Rubbish I bought tractor in UK from dealer got it for more than 30%less than my local dealer and I seen many in UK for more than I paid. Have tractor a year now and local dealer still has his.and to be honest I could of been caught like the unfortunate people in this thread.
I agree if something looks way off on price.
On another topic how do you go about reporting scam websites. This was a .com meant to be in Sweden

That is unfair and makes you sound a bit of an arse.
I'm sure those that are caught by scams worry that they were greedy and stupid in hindsight but I don't think you understand the circumstances many people buy machinery.
The whole point of a scam is to deceive people and to take advantage of everybody's pre-disposition to believe what they want to believe.
Many of us have no idea about values. We decide we are interested in something and look at what is available. Prices can vary hugely just because of different models, tyres, gearboxes etc.
2 identical tractors could vary in value hugely due to condition and hours.
If you work off farm or struggle to do all your hours on farm it is difficult to find hours / days traipsing around.
If you think you have found what you need at a price you want and can get it delivered, there is an overwhelming desire to get the deal done.
It is usually circumstance that is the overriding factor.

[NB; I haven't been the victim of a scam but have bought things unseen without issue and have been ripped off after visiting and test-driving.]

Surely common sense should prevail tho ,if the seller will not let you view ,or spwak on the phone you should walk away ,as i said it the case of thats cheap buy it quick before any one else does ,do research before blowing your hard earned

Well I spoke on the phone. And did say I was going to inspect but as I was in another country I did put a deposit on till I viewed. Because I know what it's like to be the seller. You can't hold a thing on the assumption that the buyer will turn up to inspect. And then another buyer turns up.
So I could of been scammed. Ended up I didn't inspect the machine cause I needed it quicker than I thought. Just liked the sound of the bloke and all my online research seemed to point to a valid company. Seller was more wary of me than I of him[emoji23]
