We've got 60 with the bigger motor as pictured above. One thing we were told was to replace the shim/ring that should the round the hub of the motor where it goes into the body of the machine. I can't see It on yours, perhaps it doesn't need it....... perhaps it's why it failed.

you can get parts for the motor internals... have one where that needs a new shaft, should get to it really becasue it'll probably break down over Christmas!

I've considered repairs to the motor and have not ruled it out .. but down time is a problem and for that reason I'm leaning towards a new unit

@Mr Happy

After we had a chat I ordered a motor from Halse and fitted it yesterday.

The shaft does seem to be pitted.

There also seems to be wear in the internal bronze bushes.

A bit disappointing as the machine has only done 6 years.

My advice to anyone with a similar machine would be to remove the motor once a year,clean the shaft where it goes into the motor and apply a load of grease to prevent corrosion.

Not too sure which model your machine is but did you replace the metal collar on the motor?
