I lost 3 fat lambs out the back of my van on the M5 once as i pulled out of services , luckily they ran along hard shoulder and up into taunton deane services , (i didnt know that when i was stopped by a lorry driver ) worst trip of my life going on to wellington to turn around expecting to see carnage on the other side , still have cold sweat thinking about it now

Cattle escaping onto roads is almost enough to stop you keeping them. We had sheep on the motorway last year and that’s bad enough, but there only small and slightly easier moved. Cattle on the rampage is a worry.

Had 15 on the M9 maybe 10 years back we were sowing wheat and watched the cattle trot up the hard shoulder, frightening experience and very difficult to sort out, we were extremely lucky nobody was hurt and no damage was done to anything ?

Had a friend get a heifer on the central motorway in Newcastle off the Town Moor last year. The police were there straight away and shot it.They nearly had her back in the field as well.Police didnt have a clue. They parked in the gateway.

We've had about 40 odd cows and calves escape onto a railway line. (Some strokers camping cut fencing and used posts to make a fire )
The train driver was mighty surprised to come across them luckily he was able to stop without hitting any. Apparently they all sauntered by slowly stopping to peer in the windows at the passengers.
It did make into local media and seemed to make quite a few of the passengers day !
