Did my spring oats at 0.25 a hec with medax max and it has taken them out into the car park and knocked the sh1t out them but they needed slowed down. 0.2 on some spring barley and not noticed any leaf damage . Same with the cerone on the sb areas I did.

Oats had got adjust and moddus 10 days earlier but it was hot and sunny when the medax went on but needed done and rain was forecast that night . View attachment 810272

Worst of 2 evils with oats ime. I remember dad having a field of naked oats about 20years ago that went painted flat , 3 combines tried and failed even getting paid by the hour . Ended up getting the swather to bout them . Probably a bit easier these days with choppers and being able to cut from different angles but flat oats are a disaster imo that end up a sprouted mess .

I'd rather hit them hard early on with pgr and hopefully keep them upright. Hopefully the flag leaf is undamaged and these are just tipped lowers .

It's like what I meant about cerone in barley , by awn tip I think it's too late and if the awns end up bent, buckled and frazzled the ear will be damaged too leading to screenings .

Interesting the different rates agronomists use. I was on at 0.3 medaxmax on some laureate today on 100 units N malting . 120 units feed scholar got 0.35.
Agronomist was gonna put in adjust because they had sold out of canopy . It may according to him be kinder but I don't want the stuff being 5x the price of 3c. I said I'd try and get canopy from a few locals and replace when it came back available but also wanted to get on so decided to try the medax max instead . My choice but as I say wanted them hit asap . I'm pretty sure it was just the sun and heat that day that has made it hotter but barley fine at 0.2 just a hour after oats. Again I wanted to try medax to see how it does over others getting cerone . Field I used it in is feed and had dung , so may even get a sniff of cerone yet , even tho awns are peeping out now. Will be walking later today to see

Around here in Cumbria there is a lot of yellow leaves through the spring barley. Some barley affected, other fields a lot more affected .seen the same 2 or 3 years ago...any ideas , last time I thought it was either stress or aphid damage...but it's near too uniform for aphid damage

Still waiting to get on my Spring Barley with Axial and growth reg. It was late planted after roots, and I was rolling it a little over a fortnight ago, hoping to thicken it up. It looked very sick for the next week, so daredn’t spray then (agronomist was rolling his eyes at my rolling, as usual). The rain has certainly seen it perk up, and almost like silage now.
I’ll be on it as soon as I can travel/no rain forecast, just as soon as I’ve done the second beet spray.

I’m very glad I’ve still got the flotations on the sprayer. I’d have gone today but a tad breezy here....

Mine is just the same. I wondered if it was the Axail for wild oats which had done it but I'm not to sure now I will get some pictures tomorrow

I think my hacker isn't as bad as the two fields I finished off with sienna. The couple of years previous the early sown fields weren't affected. Some fields round about it looks likes it knocked the growth where fields have a lot of yellowing. Be just interested to know the issue / cause

Mine isn't going yellow in the wet bits its more uniform throughout the crop. It's less apparent now it’s shot here is a not very good picture.

Odd looking aphid.
Looks more like a cereal leaf beetle larvae (aka sh!t bug) to me.
Do they do much damage?

Not huge amounts , just so happened to find 2 together , one the crappy colour the other black . There are so many aphids I just thought it was another kind

Any pics? Dare say aphid damage that occurred 3-4 weeks ago. There have been a lot of the buggers around this spring and still are.
