Lymphoedema/ cellulitis

Just this past week or more my bad leg has been swollen and heavy and hardly any way to describe it other than I know it's there

Used to go to a support group but there was such a crowd of moaners there that a had to stop attending! It was caused by an accident I had 13 years ago and to be honest I never thought I'd be as well as I have been, just wanting to know if it's the weather causing problems or just the passage of time.

Be worth getting it checked by your gp.

They are different! I have cellulitis in the gaiter with a hot, angry swollen lower calf with a snakeskin surface caused by bacterial infection from a cut/scratch/bite. Upper calf and ankle are fluid swollen. I ignored it for too long and it is now very painful and difficult to cure

I've found it difficult to get permanent cure. Course of penicillin worked fine first couple of times it flared up but is becoming less effective and intervals between flare ups are getting shorter.

Prevention and boost your immune system? C, D and try Dermol 500 lotion as a soap sub. AB's are becoming less effective, period.

Wife is a lymphoedema specialist.
She says you need to get a compression garment off nhs and wear it. Also skin needs to be kept moist with cream to prevent breakdown.

Compression garment works but then leg gets very itchy behind the knee and starts to bleed when you scratch it

It will feel like standing in a bed of nettles. Happens all too often here, I kinda recognise the early signs now and slackened off a bit and get on a course of tablets.

If you get run down you risk cuts and bruises, maybe broken bones or concussion. Remember, Speed kills but so can Ecstasy.

Last time mine was like that I ended up in the hospital for a week on a drip, only bed available was in the geriatric ward! Was a long week. Then iv antibiotics at home for 2 weeks

Thats not good. You need to be keeping the skin moist with loads of emoilent cream as a prevention not only as a cure. Also you can get proper made to measure garments which are easier to wear.
