Quite bizarre I posted the orginal post my mother who is 79 has just been diagnosed with a dvt in the leg same as I had and she hasn’t driven a tractor for 40 years !
But we have had COVID in the family again so maybe that’s been the cause
Who knows certainly not the doctors but must admit I could name about 10 folk now who I know personally who have had Dvt‘s in the last 12 months including a cousin who ended up in intensive care with several pulmonary embolisms
Before COVID only new of one guy who had dvt in the leg.🤔
Before COVID or before the vaccine 🤔🤔

Many like 50 years ago didn't feel good, doctor said dehydration never had that before wasn't back to normal for weeks, had one of the DB with secura cabs that sucked air from bottom front, so engine heated air before cooking me, as for time sitting driving often done twelve hour stints when conditions were good only stop to refuel combine or tractor and used to eat on the go, can't go far today without hitting the aircon today, never thought about DVT as drum often would go out of balance as dirt build up fell off the odd beater bar, used to stop engine while drum was in gear to shake worst of the dust off as dust bouncing about on the front trunk annoyed me, I still can't believe used to cut round electric poles and hours later come round with a start, have I left the spout out only to find that was acres ago and negotiated round more than one pole in different places, auto brain? no idea or recollection having done it. friend said had the same thing, scared the hell out of him as found he was lost in the wrong field doing quite well, luckily his field.

This is Gout season ! Sat in cab, aircon on and not enough water. That’s what causes mine! You don’t realise until 2 days later then it takes 2 weeks to get over it! Awful!
Trying to drive with socks on isn't good but better that any metal detector in finding things to stub your toe against, had that a few time in my 40-50s but not since as retired in 98 with bad knees, found Turmeric knocks the sharp edge off pain at night as can't take antysnflamitories anymore.

This thread reminds me of when i am on my Heston baler I sometimes do 200 bales and don’t stop for a pee until I am bursting then when you stop for one the very next bale a knotter will go down Sod’s law

Anyone doing long hours on tractors or combine harvesters please be careful .
Week last Tuesday whilst knocking the barley of about 8 at night I had a severe stabbing pain in the back of my calf just like you have when you have cramp in the middle of the night .This progressively got worse over the next week and on medical examination turns out I had a blood clot or DVT similar to you might get on a long haul flight .
Doc reckons 10 hrs sat on my arse aircon on full blast and taking no fluids on board.
Downside it’s bloody painful and the next 3 to 6 months on blood thinners which is not ideal been a mixed arable livestock farmer.
Upside the clot luckily for me didn’t move to my lungs .
So if you experience a similar problem don’t try and walk it off as I did for a week go and see the quack as soon as you can.

Thanks for the information, I hope you get better and back on your feet again.
