Could do with a mag drill for a couple of jobs I need to get on with, only farm stuff not going to be using it 24/7. Ideally want a 240v one. What’s any good? See some cheap new ones on eBay are they any use?

I had one of those cheap ones still got it it still works ok but i've replaced the switches several times not a lot of cost but annoying always remember you get what you pay for ive also got a secondhand rotobroach much better quality and a stronger magnet than the bay one

Have sold plenty of Jefferson ones over last couple of years without any real issues. We'd sell the basic model at about £380 + VAT currently. Have started to replace the ones in our fabrication workshop with the higher spec ones now and been going well.

Another +1 for evolution.

I also bought it to do a one off fabrication job and found it’s been SO useful that I don’t know how I managed before! Doesn’t get mega use but really is a good tool to have in the box.

Fein is the best. Alfra, rotaboach, JEI all good options. Evolution are ok if your not gonna use it too much. JEI minibeast would be my choice as they are the handiest to use

Mei minibeast punches above its spec I would say, I had one but got burnt in a fire replaced it with a rotabroach panther I think it is, bigger and better spec with variable speed which was the selling point to me but in reality even slowest speed is too fast I reckon and the minibeast in practice is much more powerful and smaller eg handier to use plus it came in a neat steel box the rotabroach is in a big bulky plastic case. So I would buy the JEI mini beast again no bother

if compact is what yr after then even lighter by a kilo or so than the mini beast is an HMT 30 (English built) lovely little drill he is. similar money ,if a bit dearer.
faster speed but will be fine for smaller than massive holes .
really good magnet, which is helped on positional stuff by the light weight of course.
Also comes with the quick attach bit chuck for there other bits of various types.

We have a rotobroach puma that is currently away being mended (control panel gone wrong) used a jei minibeast in the meantime and felt it ran too fast really. Yet to wear out a bit with our rotobroach but felt this wouldn't be the case with the jei

I have a Rotabroach panther or puma, can’t remember , it’s very good.
Which ever brand you go for you won’t regret it even if you only use it once a year as they make the job so easy .

Evolution been fine here for about 10 years occasional use. Parts available from some spot in the far east called Sheffield.
You're lucky. One here with a snapped shaft, evolution told me they didn't keep parts for machines that they had stopped selling! A pity because it was very good to use, have replaced it with a JEI Minibeast, also very good.

I dropped it and they had a spare gearbox casing for £30.
Don't buy the cheaper one. It's not even good enough for occasional use.
