MAGIC MAPS

I’ve just been on magic maps and found that the measuring tool appears to be well out. I’ve checked half a dozen fields and magic maps is measuring the area at about 20% less that it actually is. Has anyone else noticed the same or have I got some setting or other wrong?

Magic maps has its uses, but really accurate field and boundary mapping is not one of them.

You're best doing it with your own gear (that has correction).

OMG - just found that if you zoom in or out of your browser it changes the measurements!! That’s got to be a joke.
It does say the measuring tool is indicative only but I would of expected it to be in the right ball park. I’ll try and find out at what percentage zoom it’s something like. Should come with a health warning something like “this measuring tool doesn’t work actually so don’t bother using it”

I’ve checked on google and it’s more or less bang on.

Bet the guys who sold that magic system to the government struggled to keep a straight face when they said to the civil servents it’s all tested and working just fine before they ran like hell with the money!!

Google Earth Pro is always spot on. My area has up to date imagery too. July 2018 is the most recent. Looking around the country, that's not always the case - some are over 10 years old.

@Tom.6420 - your chicken houses aren't showing on your Google Earth images. How old do you think the image is?
