we never have any real grief with o2 here and my sister got a giff gaff sim and she never had signal I think its like a priority thing asif they look after there own customers 1st before these that buy airtime? just my opinion

Try the O2 sim in her phone and see if reception improves or stays the same. It could be down to the phone or the SIM itself may be faulty. Never heard of any prioritisation or selectivity on signal from the same base carrier.

it was a while ago she only had it for 6 month ish then she went back touring abroad so gave it up but she has had differnnt sims in the same phone which have been ok.

the selectivity of signal is very much my opinion/ guess
