Mains Water Connection

We are looking at a block of ground and the water main runs along a main road next to the land. Any ideas what it is likely to cost to connect to the water main and install meter etc?
Thanks

I've just done this. I laid pipe up to the edge of the road (private track but used by a handful of houses, so kind of public right of way), they are going over the single track road and 20 feet in to the next field where the main runs through.

£1300 all-in.

They needed permission from the owner of the track and field (luckily it's the same guy). With permission they can get it done within 30 or 40 days, if they can't get permission and have to do a compulsory whatnot, it can be 90 days.

Add on a month or so for application and site visit, your looking at somewhere between 2-6 months.

I hope you get on faster than I have Ben as we asked for an uprated connection from 25mm to 50mm in mid January and despite repeated phone calls no one has given me a quotation or a site visit yet.

How do you tell what is under a manhole cover in a main road without lifting it. There double square covers about 100m a part and don’t say water or telecoms?

Search the utility providers plans on line. May be a charge but will have details of the size and material
