Maize only ration

Thinking of growing only maize for weaned cattle this autumn, what other feedstocks do people suggest I use to grow a frame before they get over fat. I’m attempting to give them no grass silage and balance grains and proteins, but I need some advice and experience from others if you can help

Maize is a great feed for cattle but is low in protein, possibly byproducts like brewers grains or pressed pulp could balance this up for you?

A high protein molasses could also work.

What breed of cattle are they? Would have thought maize might get native bred beef a little fat but not sure.

Seems like you are going about feeding weanlings the most expensive way imo. Quality grass silage and minerals would grow weanlings at half the cost.

Pressed pulp is 9% protein….cant see that doing much to balance maize?

What’s the plan for them long term? Are they grazing again or staying in to be pushed on.
Used a bit of maize for our weaned sucklers one year to balance up the bad silage we had. They were a bit heavier at turnout but also a bit ‘soft’ and ended up the same weight as the previous years cattle at housing in the autumn.
Wouldn’t use it again in a grower ration.
