Major vehicle quandary

Yes that’s the one the dealer said would be about £60,000 inc vat on the road with a 300 engine and decent spec to match my current Amarok. It’s to much for my liking although I appreciate I’d get the vat back. It’s about £1000/month including interest to buy it over 5 years. Warranty runs out after 3 years though and the dealer said the LR extended warranty isn’t very good!

I agree about the Amarok! Mines 6 year’s old and there is nothing comparable in a pickup out there, until the new one comes out and it will really be a ranger😩 I have consigned to keeping mine until I see what the new one is like, it hopefully will have full time 4wd which is the Amaroks best feature.

It is for me as I need an all round dual purpose vehicle. 15,000 miles a years worth of quandary to be precise.
Just buy the Hilux.
Most reliable pickup out there, and you wouldn't be in a fluster about warranties if you'd run one before. Yes the 2.4 is flat, mine is, but imagine the 2.8 will be livelier? That said its does all that your asking and carries my little one about just fine, have no desire for it to fly along faster with him on board...

My local VW independent specialist drives a Hilux and
a SWB landcruiser .
He thinks the Amarok is poorly made in comparison
and he had one previously from new.

Are they really that bad you need a warranty to own one? a great wall would have given you 6 years 125K mile warranty!... someone will buy it if you trade it in and will be on the road for another 10 years.
Any one had a ssangyong , what are residuals , or just run it till death ,
it sure is hardship and quandry ,if you dont trust a supposedly high spec "bestnpickup " or is it street cred ,
we got a ten year old navara , its was sub 60 k miles and private use though not seen any muck , passed chasis inspection and cannot fault it ,
warranty looks attractive , on ssangyong ,

Hope you get you want / need

I’d be tempted to take the risk on extending without the warranty and know / have what you love and rate

It’s a personal choice of course but 15000 miles a year would be nothing to me and I’d drive anything

Good luck with your quest.

Pretty sad that you don't want to run a 3 year old truck for 12 months without warranty. Truck must be rubbish if you can't rely on it for that long.

This.
They must be junk if they can't do year 4 with out major break downs.
The new ones will just be a Ford in disguise won't they, so no guarantee, you'll like them.
At the end of the day if you need a new pick up in warranty, you'll just have to buy which ever one you dislike least.
Not too many VW's round here, they look more car like than work tough? Plus they're very expensive. I think my dentist has one.
Can you get the new Mazda BT-50 there? They look a little different to the other brands, even though they are basically an Isuzu now.

Yes I could buy an ex demo with warranty for about £50,000 ish. Problem is I’ll be paying £50k off over the remainder of warranty to then sell when it’s 3 years old. It’ll be around £1400/month so double the budget.

50k, I take it yours is a 258, you could go 204 and it will still run rings around anything else, you could remap it for less than 13k.

What are you scared of? Warranty isn't free. Just pay for the repairs (if there are any) for a year then lease another in 2022.

Me? I buy 4yo ex lease motors for 10k & run them 5yrs. Then they become the farm truck for another 5yrs.

You're flapping about nowt man, you've answered your own question.

So I presently run a Amarok doing 15,000 miles a year. It’s leased and going in June this year. It ticks all the boxes for me as it’ll travel across fields, tow a trailer, carry stuff in the pickup bed, takes the kids to and from school and is also happy travelling to the coast on holiday.
I’ve asked and VW won’t extend the lease with warranty. I’ve had a few adblue issues with it so I don’t want it without warranty. Other than that it’s a brilliant vehicle and fast due to the v6 engine.
I’ve been and looked at and driven the new Hilux as well as the ranger, d-max and l200. I don’t like any of them as they are woeful compared to the Amarok.
Of the 15,000 miles a year half is private related such as school runs and half is business related.
I genuinely don’t know what to do because I like vehicles in warranty and I like changing them every 3 years which is why lease suits us.
If I was to buy the budget would be £40,000 or if leased no more than £600/month including vat. A commercial suits our business for vat and tax but I don’t like any of the other pickups. The new Amarok won’t be available until late 2022 according to the dealer. I need 4wd for field use and it needs to tow 3t.

Help because I’m flummoxed and honestly don’t know what to do.
Buy it off the lease company and live dangerously

Just buy it you know it at this stage and if it’s only adblue trouble you’ve had why not get it mapped out!! I’ve a year old 3.2 wildtrak and I wouldn’t swop it for anything I could never find a pickup as nice to drive!! But admittedly I’ve never driven an amarok!! My vet had an amarok bought until I gave him my pick up for half a day then he bought a wildtrak! He had 2018 landcruiser and had to sell it as he has very bad back and there’s no lumber support in the Toyota he was in bits after a long day and has no trouble with the ford seats
