Making ANOTHER plough

Would not think so. Value still lies in the bodies - £1500 for RWM's and that's without legs which you also need - say £250 which means £5250 so it's well worth £750 to say you have an original.

That's if you want RWM's

Was thinking about TCN's from existing plough and buy YL's to put back on to sell as working plough.

I believe the current UK classic champ has put some tcn's on his 86 in the last few weeks - but still has the option to return to RWM's when the ground suits

I think one or two who realised the limitations of RWMs have reverted back. They have got fed up with the TCN boys beating them on a fairly regular basis.:rolleyes:

Not a lot different with TCN's if you want the real McCoy Rob. Pair of boards on FB recently for £900. Time you get your frogs, wings, shares, shins and landslides you are up to £1600 anyway. Sell your bare 59 and put the funds back into your 86. Double whammy for the 59 as it can go in the vintage class as well with YL's on it.

Yes you've talked me out of it

Those long RWM boards make nice work but at the expense of other failings

Get my head down and make the best of the tcn,s.

Shopping list for the spring is

New points and wings

16" discs

Adjustable tail pieces

Wonder if father Christmas has got my letter.

As the voice of treason, some folks go to a lot of trouble to lift the front body (once per Match) whereas lifting the rear body can be used twice on every run to neaten ins and outs. Discuss.

How would lifting the rear leg be practical for the purpose you are suggesting.

Even with a cordless impact wrench, you would run out of time if you are fannying about at each end like that

Euan, consider entry with rear leg up, then down after 30", at plot end lift front (and back until end) so rear body is still in work for 30" then lift all. Your plough effectively bends in the middle.

Definitely a banter thread here....ploughs bending in the middle....horses pushing ploughs....openings done with a rowing plough..... ho ho ho Merry Christmas.

Bill Tonkin and Lodwic Jones have cut their ploughs in half so that they can move the rear half independently. They dont bend, as far as I know. The idea came from a continental plough seen at the world at York.
