That must be in good demand up there even though it's not a distiller. Have you rung the major merchants like Frontier & Gleadell?

Usually don't bother with malting. But a merchant told me at harvest they had a market for it. So tested it and results were good. We dried it slowly and sat on it to be told more barley about than they thought six weeks a go. So no outlet. Just a shame to miss a premium if we can get a buyer. Believe it's a brewer.

I understand that Burton on Trent malting has very little of any malting barley below 1.85N from the midlands area. See the grower article on spring barley in last weeks farmers weekly. Frontier and Gleadell must be sourcing it from elsewhere to fulfill the contracts although the winter varieties may have plugged the gap for now. It should be worth a lot more than feed unless haulage is too far.

I’d speak to Cefetra, I got really strong malting prices in August/September. They were established in Scotland long before they started buying in the east.

From what I’ve read on here malt barley customers in Scotland only decide what their willing to pay you after they’ve taken possession of your corn
Sounds mad but is what I’m told
Ps offered £205 for planet today in England
