Just was wondering about malting wheat? I m sure there is such a thing as brewers make blonde wheat beer! Is there a market for it in the UK is it even a thing?

Think they use some wheat in the whisky industry.
Now I will never get back across the border
From memory it is more or less milled, but needs a high diastase barley to break down the starch in the wheat. Not so much demand now for whisky as people are swinging to malts. But good for producing white spirit. Distilleries in Girvan, Glasgow, Cameron Bridge, Edinburgh, Invergordon. Some are currently on maize from France, as eg Invergordon was designed to process US maize and only when local wheat was competitively priced did they use wheat.
A soft feed wheat works well local distillery wishes Consort was still grown
Our local gin micro distillery is using wheat and I am trying to persuade them to experiment with oats.
