All these companies are buying off the same companies and rebranding them as their own.
Like I said we have just started doing milkline and on their list of products we have just quoted the vario silent vacuum pump which is on the list of pumps on de Laval range

But I’m old school I like collars
Same here, put Sensehub collars on all the bulling heifers this year. Easy to take off or put on and easily transferred to new stock. We felt there was too high a risk of the ear tags being caught on wire or sheepwire and being pulled out.

The new ear tags have a longer battery life than the old tags, 5 v 3 years, and are cheaper as well so it's closer to 50:50 now than it was before, I think.

Edit: Cheaper than collars, same price as the old tags.

No, we would be milking off grass predominately and I don't know if they can be linked to FTY but I'd expect they can.

We're putting in a drafting system and they're able to use any of the different systems we looked at for drafting through the app so it should be possible.

Got the allflex collars on they are pretty cool however will take me a while to get it figured out, seen a cow standing last night, and the app says she’s perfect for sexed as late as this afternoon? I thought that would have been too late?! The health index too, flagged up a cow 86 index, what index do you get alarmed at as in if you don’t treat her she struggle very shortly ?

You need to try to get them as near the middle of the window as possible to maximise your conception rates. In heats, 85% up is always a serve but, later on in the season, you'll get some lower figures that you may need a bit of assistance from the rep in deciding if they should be done.

We use the health index just as an alert system. It'll show an animal having some early indicators of a problem brewing and will need a good check to identify any issues. Most work through without problems but with breeding stock, a check on temperature, rumen function and for mastitis/pneumonia would be a good start.

Thanks. Served this cow this morning at where the arrow is, I will sound dumb but is this the perfect time to ai? I didn’t get blood on the straw but it was a orange colour

We have cow manager but not quite sure we are making the most of them or maybe just getting the timing right. Would be interested in knowing what "protocol " or timing routine people follow if they have just once a day AI visits and cow manager?

The system is a lot of money so want to make the most of it. I’m liking it so far tho, it spotted a cow coming in this morning that I haven’t seen yet!

I think oad serving the best cow manager can tell you is the cow coming on at milking time but not showing on cowmamager at the start of milking probably wants leaving until tomorrow. So it's not as useful for timing but is that pair of eyes watching billing all the time.

I think to get a conception rate benefit from timing you need to be serving twice a day. We will serve in the morning anything in heat more than 8 hours at start of milking and 6 hours in the evening.

Cow manager normally takes two or three hours to give the alert after you might start seeing them begin activity in the yard.

Cow manager here, serving 6-18 hours after peak heat so often 24 hours after the first notification. Conception rate 75-80%. Just about finished our first block of cows served with the system and we were 79% calved after 3 weeks compared to 53% last year so timings can be far out. Difficult to justify only serving once a day when you’ve got all the data in your pocket in my opinion but I know that isn’t going to suit everyone.

Is that because you’ve installed a management system this year? That’s a big improvement! Do you ever get blood on the end of this straw if you serve her a day after first notification? I always thought anything other than clear at the end of the straw I’d be seeing her in 3 weeks
