Manganese deficiency

If it’s cool or cold use mantrac works better and longer lasting,4 weeks
mnso4 if it warm only lasts 2 weeks (but stronger if warm enough to pick up the mn in that period)
on third dose on a few fields now

Mantrac is a premium product mind. I personally always used a product containing manganese nitrate and manganese sulphate, it was cheap enough to use routinely if you so wished. I do agree though that Yara make some good kit. Used to use Magphos K etc a fair bit.

Only £1.50/acre not going to break the bank!!!

Ok, would you go and top mantrac over 1000 acres of cereals right now, today? That's £1500. Suddenly £1.50 an acre doesn't seem that cheap. I agree mantrac is a premium product but you can soon spend some serious money on stuff that goes in sprayers even if it isn't Yara's finest.
First your very unlucky if you do every acre.
secondly how much to apply the product £5/acre plus.
thirdly can you travel in a fortnight to do it again f it’s not been warm enough to take it into the plant.
thirdly if you had a product that would get it into the plant for 28 days perhaps when you were on holiday, and you didn’t want to worry.would it be worth the extra 75pence per acre? I think, hope so 😉

I think you are being a bit caught up in someone's marketing machine. The reason manganese carbonate is so long acting is because it's as insoluble as fudge.

Bit of manganese now wouldn't hurt, it would have to be pronounced for me to even consider hitching a sprayer on for it alone mind.

Relatively cheap, usually mixes well with other products. Just not hormone herbicides, to be fair, probably shouldn't be putting manganese in when using herbicides at all.
I mix it with all herbicides apart from hormones, is there a reason why I shouldn’t?!

I'd say the opposite and the addition of MN can act as a wetter of sorts with herbs.
Ps I've never had a problem mixing liquid with mcpa,2d4 or other hbn's like starane, bromoxinil.
It’s the manganese sulphate powder that can cause problems, I believe it can turn like jelly/crystallise and blocks all the filters.
Never tried it myself to find out! I believe liquid mang will tank mix with stuff that powder won’t.

I used to love the smell of powdered Mn, until I read an article on long term manganese exposure causing life long Parkinson’s symptoms, known as ‘manganism’. Quite common in people using stick welders (Mn flux) and potters who apply Mn powder when working with clay.
Feck that, I now only use liquid MnSO4.

I've mixed manganese with all sorts, but my thinking is should you really be adding a known trace element to a tank mix containing herbicides- you are spraying your weeds with manganese and it is known to help as a kind of stimulant that helps plants overcome challenges to their growth. Should you really be mixing it with atlantis, etc, if this is the case?

In South America they add manganese to tank mixes of round up to help their crops cope with the roundup...

CMPP is the worst culprit for jelly in tank mixes apparently. I've never known anyone I worked with have the problem.

Yes I know what you mean but I always thought the Mn worked as a wetter and improved herbicide uptake. My agronomist has never complained.
