Hi,
I need to identify the thread on the extending boom hydraulic connections.
Being French am I right assuming they would be metric or would they use BSP.
The hose is 5/8 R2AT

M30x1.5 36mm spanner

Personally just buy genuine most of the time. made up ones are never quite right, bit too long or too short or wrong OD so the clamps dont fit or the matterial is cheap and nasty and stiff.

I can make my own as i have 2 crimpers but rarley bother!

Thanks for the info, it's a made up one done in a hurry and the guy only had a 90 deg and 45 deg. Found out the only way it would fit was with 45 deg at boom end after trying the way it wouldn't fit first of course! Only lasted a mater of months and sprung a leak right by the 45 deg fitting probably because of tight bend Was thinking of trying a reusable fitting to try and get away with doing the complete run again.

Manitou fittings are all Metric, but there are two choices of eg M14. S and L I think they are termed.

yes some size have s and L shaped cones or often called heavy and light series. Manitou use a combination of both but its nomally the smaller sizes that have these options

Thanks, the serial number is 94523

oh dear thats a series 1, they have the most awful pipe routing to the back of the boom and up inside the boom.

Going off your earlier picture, unless you take the time to replace them all and route them correctly it wont matter what make hose you fit genuine or made up locally they will just get tangled up and damaged.

That how ever will end up costing more than a series 1 is worth! I have in the past repiped 2 of these series 1 myself and never doing one again!

I did say sorry in a PM but it is what it is, MLT 626 series 1 have a very bad boom deign and pipe layout. series 2 is better as totally different boom design and pipe layout which hasnt really changed that much to this day IMO! and series 3 is better still with heavier duty axles.

Although the next model on MLT 628 and 728 is the cream of the crop IMO 😁

Hi Ace, could have sworn I seen a reply from you with cost of pipes, if you could quote me for the pair for the extender, (might as well do both at same time)

Why all this internal pipework..? When I designed my loader, all the pipework is external and easy to inspect. I did the sliding extension pipes like a forestry harvester and they are really successful.

Because its neater and less exposed to damage in theory. series 2 and 3 and all other manitous after the 626 had a much simpler and better internal design. How ever the pipes the OP is currently got problems with are all the external pipes which connect to the internal ones

Yea, all about looks.. but function should always come first. On the modern handlers I can hardly even see any pipes, diggers on the other hand have pipes sticking out all over the place and most of course are easy to change!

I don't design machines BUT yeah of cause its all about looks people tend to buy what they think is best and one of the factors used to gauge that purchase is the quality of build and how it looks. Most owners especially first owners do not go by how easy they think it will be to repair, they do not normally care about that cause it isn't there job normally as they see that as the dealers problem 🤷‍♂️
