Manitou 725

Sorry if this has been asked before! I am looking for a telehandler, and have a sub 10k budget. Been offered a manitou 725 and would like a bit of feed back about the model, and any pitfalls I am trying to avoid anything on eBay from large dealers yards in Yorkshire. Would also love any alternative suggestions. I currently have an old Sanderson 247 teleporter, so I guess most things are an improvement……. Cheers

anything is an improvemnt on a 247 i would avoid a series 1 mlt 725, series 2 is okay, series 3 is much better, better still is a mlt 628 or 728

725 series 1 and 2 had weak carraro axles, but there were many other improvements on the series 2, series 3 had much stronger axles.

MLT 628 and 728 had a better cab, got rid of the hyd control box and cables and mostly had mechanical levers direct on to the hyd valve block so far better.

There are some old 725 with danfoss joysticks but rare i would avoid them, there are also mlt 628 and 728 with pilot control joystick which are also fine but i rather mechanical control, there is also the option of powershift gearbox which i would also avoid. too many optional extras complicate the machine, make it less reliable and more difficult and expensive to repair when old.

Thanks for the pointers. This is on an N plate, with a manual box. No pick up, so guessing a construction spec?

MT is construction, MLT is agri spec

PUH would have been optional and they were poor design hitches back then anyway. I wouldn't bother towing anything anyway on an old machine there just not up to it.
