Manitou MLA 628-120 transmission won’t drive in reverse..

Got a manitou MLA that won’t drive in reverse she just try’s to move but we have a leak so suspecting clutch pack fault.. not had the transmission out of one yet but looking at it I think the cab has to come off.. has anyone got a tips on the removal of the transmission or pack problems..

Yeah need to check solenoids first. But dont take cab off it's a nightmare! They weren't designed to come off easy!

I have done a few. If you make a bracket to bolt trany to a nice wide low profile trolley jack. You lower it down underneath. Then jack front up and stick railway sleepers under tyres.

Then you get another machine and lift the back of machine in the air till you can wheel trany out.

Putting it back in needs great care and a decent machine with good control is essential.
 
Hi thanks no I realised that the cab isn’t made easily removable upon inspection yesterday.. I do remember doing one years ago as it was fire damaged under the cab.. checked and swapped forward / reverse solenoids but still the same so definitely box out I think .. thanks again Jon
