Manitou MLT year 2009 and 2012 differences ?

Hello,

I am in the search for one MLT 634 for me and I see that year 09 has one square mesh on the side where engine is and newer ones have 2 more. They both have Mercedes engines I think.

Are there any more improvements on years 12/13 ? Except that part I see them as identical but maybe there are more improvements so I know if it is worth to pay extra for newer ones. I want Powershift only coz I need 40 kmh.

The newer ones will have more emmissions garbage on them. Prob why theres more mesh area to allow heat to escape from exhaust. Personally id go way the older simpler model as will have less to go wrong but am no expert in manitou. @ACEngineering will know

I was hoping he will chime in but I did not want to bother him over PM.

Be either dpf or ad blue or both as i think it was 2012 that jd released r series and massey 76 series and nh t7.200 and they all had exhaust treatment systems so musta been tighter emmissions controls came in that year

No DPF or adblue or EGR on mlt 634 perkins or Merc engines?

Deutz which came in about 2015 do have egr I think and possibly DPF? Didnt go adblue till recently with these new shape cabs & agri pro models.

Merc was only used around mid to late 2012 to end of 2014 I think on the 634. But on the 735 you could order that from factory with perkins or merc till at least mid 2013.

Merc engine is sound BUT.
Hyd Cooling fan pump like to fail but there is a upgraded pump to cure that.

Intercooler hoses blow need to upgrade to race spec silicon ones off Ebay. Genuine Manitou hoses are poor.
Mod kit for intercooler pipe clamp bracket is a must.

Starter motor upgrade is also a must.
Cab heater hoses always rub on bottom of engine sump. Must be replaced and routed nicely. Need to be a few inches longer! Bit of nice plastic spirel hose guard wrap on them is good idea.
Hyd pipe from cooling fan pump under radiators to fan motor rubs on bottom of rad cause it's too short. Remake it 1" longer.
Again wrap it in plastic guard.
Fuel pipes run under rad too so can chaff aswell.

Otherwise its fine?

Nope not that I know of till they went to deutz engines (y)

JD engine in the mlt 840 has one of them sh1t egr valves though??‍♂️

And the MLT 629 rear engine has a different perkins common rail to the normal ones. That does have egr and dpf. Also has paper crank case filter too which the merc and perkins mlt 634/735 etc dont have.
(Actually merc does have crank case filter but it's just a folded up bit of steel wool with some cotton woven in it. Just chuck them in a jam jar with some brake cleaner and given them a shake to clean)

The powershift gearbox is the same from 1999 right through to current production models I think?

Early machine 1999 upto 2003 had issues with bearings failing and core plugs dropping out. Then the bearing problems seemed to go away mostly but in place of that we now get clutch pack piston issues as they replaced the aluminium pistons for a tin piston with a rubber coating bonded on it as the seal, they dont last aswell and like to leak.

Upto end of 2007 was mechanical injection and 5 speed box.
2008 was perkins common rail and 6 speed box.

The thing is the gearbox is the same?‍♂️ all they did was change the program in the ECU as before it jumped from 4th straight up to 6th so had a massive gap in ratio!
The reprogrammed ecu just added in the 5th gear they were skipping making it alot better on the road etc but didnt actually make it any faster top speed, just helped you get up to top speed quicker.

If possible please send me all manuals as you have sent 2 years ago for my old 634. I have sent you email.
