Manitou MT422FC Hydraulic Pump Wanted

Actually no. But good tip. I'll have to drain the system and have a look at that.
Did you check the suction filter and the suction pipework from the tank to the pump?

Been trying to remove the hose but to no avail. Thinking about cutting it off and replacing the hose. Any idea what working pressure the replacement hose needs to be? I can get large bore hose at a working pressure of 522 Psi.

Have you checked the suction filter yet? Usually inside the hydraulic tank screwed onto to the suction pipe fitting.

I'm actually not sure where the suction filter is on the Manitou. I changed the Filter that is at the top of the tank which never made a difference but looking at it then it makes me think that one is the suction filter as the bottom hose connected at the tank to the pump has no filters in it!

Looking for a Hydraulic Pump for my Manitou Maniscopic MT422 FC 1985 model. VIN of my machine 67122.
I think it is the pump. Tried changing the Hydraulic Fluid to no avail.

That looks like its got air in it. There should be a suction filter inside the bottom of tank accessed though that plate on top of tank, check and clean that, of filter isn't blocked replace the pump suction hose as it may be the rubber lining has come off and is blocking the flow, otherwise it looks like pump or the shaft failed that drives it but that wouldn't let air in it IMO and that defiantly looks like lift ram is full of air. Tank is way above the pump so it should flow easy to pump and wouldn't normally suck air IMO as if you had a hole in the suction hose the oil would run out quite quickly!

The filter in the top you changed is just a return filter so wouldn't make any difference to this problem.

Edit, looking at a book there should be 2 suctions filters towards the right hand side of the tank i think? 1 is for the main hydraulic pump under the radiator the other is for the steering pump driven off the engine timing gears.

Found it. There is a filter under the battery cradle behind the diesel tank. A hose coming from the filter base leads to the back of the tank hidden by other hoses. The filter says Filtres Purflux LS900. The filter is clogged with creamy pinkish mush. Once I have changed it and filled the system back up then hopefully that will make everything work again. Wahey!!

Actually that was another filter leading to the hoses to the tank. Sent a message to A and R on facebook regarding it and I now have to drain the hydraulic system again and open up the top plates to get access to the actual suction filter. Just wish I did all this during the summer months.....lol

That will be the transmission filter, its pink cause its contaminated with water, possibly due to leaking oil cooler or gearstick rubber gaiter or just years of condensation. Water in it isn't good for it, it will damage the clutch pack linings leading to a transmission overhaul which is a massive job on that age machine.

Ok got both filters out. The steering filter and the suction filter. The suction filter was the worst as it was way inside the tank and I was only able to get it with one longreceived_517717782520943.jpegreceived_517717782520943.jpegIMG_20201126_141329.jpgIMG_20201126_141318.jpg arm. And of course with the main part of the filter turning on top of the main nut it was very difficult to get off. Now I need to find the replacements. Anyone recognise what I need?

Hi Steve. Did the suction filters fix your problem? I have a very similar problem on the same model Manitou
