Manitou v JCB artic

Not as an operator but we have sold one. The new MLA is a big improvement over the old MLA 628. Deutz engine 4.2 l 145 Hp larger engine than in the Mlt. It has adblue and dpf. Access is tight but only had to service it so far. The transmission is made by rexroth and is a cvt type the same as fitted to Libeherr shovels. Is good on the road and round the yard but lacks smoothness when edging up to things like a Tc transmission.
Hyds are quick and powerful. Boom seams well built.
Cab is ok uses manitou jsm joystick mounted on the armrest. The dashboard is a joke too small to see and use

I'd vote for jcb...enjoy driving them, also despise manitous which helps in the decision making.

JCB has a far longer lineage of production and there for (hopefully) customer feed back to work with to improve the machine, I've never heard of any major issues with them other than wear and tear.

JCB all the way. The manitou looks a well made machine but the ground clearance is poor the front of the boom is excessively tall and engine access is shocking. A good machine let down by the details.

We now own a manitou MLA have run it for 10 months now and am really pleased with it slight hiccup with a software update by manitou that upset things but dealer sorted it and has done everything we have asked of it. On those industrial style michelin tyres which are brilliant and couldn't them recommend them highly enough.

Top machine

Had a MLA on demo and bought it about 4 months ago like it v well better visibility than the JCB it replaced and much better visibility than the new 320 s .Still has 2 doors ,unlike JCB hopefully better paintwork than my previous yellow machine ,has much better turning circle, like the Deutz engine and vario transmission, find hydraulics v nice and extremely fast when shaking bucket at moment v pleased but time will tell .Have on oversized Michelin tractor type tyres.just my personal experience have had several telescopic over the yrs 4 ws and artic

A lot sold so going to have problems. We have JCB there's things I could moan about it's not perfect but it's really not bad. We often buy low houred private machines and so need to sell our machine private and JCB is by far the easiest to sell and holds its money. We used to run side boom manitous tho and had very little problems if well maintained just bit harder to sell and they didn't make a pivot at the time we moved brands

We have just got a 533 on demo, so far so good, looking to buy this or the 320s. Anyone have any detailed criticisms, the oscillation in the axcel doesn't seem as smooth over bumps as in the 320s, not sure yet which gearbox I prefer but we have hydro rigid machines so already used to it. Joystick is a bit weird but feels comfortable. What's servicing like on the 533?? We are looking to buy to run for 6-8k hours, jcb seems the best option but £13k more expensive like for like.... Big amount to consider. Opinions??

I liked the demo we had last winter. It does feel quite a bit bigger than our old 628 but it was an animal to handle dung. It came with a big hardox grab, which it handled well, plenty of weight about it so felt real stable. The only thing about it was on the road it was gutless and couldn’t keep to our 536-60 jcb.
