March lambing Romneys

We have. While building numbers needed to utilise existing stock. Lambed inside mid February onwards. Only problem we saw was they tended to throw more reeds than the Suffolk ewes when on stubble turnips in January. Lower than expected lambing average due to going to tip earlier? Lambs finished well off creep and sold well which made up for lower lambing av.
Cleared out by end July.

I love the Romney but we had to move to early lambing for how it fitted into the rest of the farm strategy/labour availability and they have all now gone bar about 5, replaced by Suffolk.

Try and lamb outside but have got some capacity to lamb inside if things got bad

We lamb hundreds of them from mid March but are in the South east and the last few years the weather has been marvellous for outdoor lambing.
They do around 150%, no cake and have to look after themselves.
