I have used this man a couple of times, he goes to Wales a lot and is based in Norfolk,
Any of the transporters that do regular runs to Newmarket should give you a good price if its on their run, its the stud season so they will be moving stock. Be warned they are massive lorries so access can be an issue for loading, one couldn't get down our lane.
I have also used, http://candchorsetransport.com/ , very simple to book and pay by card over the phone. I have never heard a bad word said about Gillies, no idea what they are like on price.

Plus 1 for Matt East 👍👍
He is a busy guy, but can load anything, patience in spades and just a really nice guy. Highly recommended.

for one delicious moment i thought it was for him....i conjured up a vision of 'sir yorkie of gayton atop the mare following the hounds' 😁....then i saw the delivery address....one o his customers i reckon;)
I imagined him kitted out in Stetson, Chaps and a big brass sheriffs badge moseying around along the lawless streets of the wild west Norfolk keeping law and order.
" The names Yorkie, sheriff B Yorkie and this here village ain't big enough for both of us"

Horses travelled by Gillie will usually share a lorry in their own individual compartment. I gather the lorries cost upwards of £300,000 each and are replaced with new every three years. My access road is about 300m long so the lorries back in, then I have to lead the ponies up the road to the lorry. Never had any problems loading as they (all youngsters) are trained by feeding in my trailer to self load in advance. If you go to their web site, they'll give you an estimate of cost over the phone. The horses are rested at their stops on a long journey which could take a few days as they try to transport with full loads. Sent a few down to England and one to Germany. All my clients say they walk off the lorry fresh and happy and in perfect condition. The drivers are all experienced horsemen. They probably cost a little more but it is worth it for peace of mind. Recent prices were just over £100 for 100 mile journey and £500 to the south of England, both Highland ponies in shared transport. Obviously, it will be more between remote locations.
