Margin reduction due to new immigration "policy"

So guys and gals we have it, a new shiny immigration policy.
I am sure we can all agree it's lovely and shiny, if rather restrictive.

But hey ho we for the most part derive our livelihoods from agriculture and the realities have been for a good long time that migrant labour , both permanent and temporary has been heavily involved within our supply chains for a good number of years, be it from the Polish lorry driver delivering Fert, the American vet student at Lambing time, the legions of soft fruit pickers, the New Zealand clipper and then at the processing end the Greek abbatoir worker.

So one may think to attract indegenous labour to these jobs wages will have to go up or each one of these jobs, or we pay the 25k etc.

Eitherway the money to pay has to come from somewhere. It may not be to hard to work out where that maybe.

So can you take say the £60-70 drop in cattle price to pay the more expensive labour through the chain?

Primary care looks equally interesting along with hospitality among others.

Oh love the Brexit bonuses......

I find it ironic that a Ugandan Indian is orchestrating this divisive project that would have actually prevented her own parents coming to the UK. :scratchhead:
Utter rubbish. Her parents had British passports & she isn't a Ugandan Indian, she is British born and bred. (y)

Had your comment been written by a Brexit supporter it would probably have been labelled 'racist'.

Oh, dear, Priti Patel has just admitted that her parents probably wouldn't have been allowed in the the UK on LBC this lunchtime. :D

Well... I've just re-checked my facts, and I'm right and she - weirdly - is wrong about this. Her parents had British passports and, as the then Government here established, had an absolute right to come here.

And she is British, born and bred.

I don’t think it will make much difference. With a points system it’s quite easy to adjust the follow of labour if shortages occur. For example if there’s a shortage of care workers, anyone with a job offer in that industry could be awarded more points. Plenty of other special cases ahead imo.

That's the whole point, the policy will reflect and cater for the needs of the country, rather than just allow blanket immigration. There's no more rational alternative for any country.

Those British passports did not do a lot of good for a large number in Hong Kong

What about the needs of the migrant workers? At times of economic growth labour will be drawn in yet the services a modern labour force requires remain squeezed under this government. Perhaps the only thing that matters is that landlords, such as myself, should receive ever increasing rents?

I don't see how she can be wrong. I can find no reference to her parents being anything other than immigrants from Uganda. Interestingly, her father apparently stood as a UKIP councillor in 2013, presumably who she gets her hard right views from as she herself also started out in the Referendum party.
