Is it not the width across the way that's the problem, hence why so many are driven with the window open? That was my impression the couple of times I drove them (6 3" 18st+). I certainly wouldn't want one for that reason.
6’2” and 13st here and I struggle in them.
I know someone your exact size Woolless who bought a brand new 90 a few years ago and swapped it within a month for a different make.

Everyone seens to complain of their knees being up around the steering wheel... I'm 6'1" with 34" legs and have never experienced this.

I'm a skinny thing but dad has a wee belly (not a gut by any means!) and he says the current model feels snug (gap between seat and steering wheel) - but being the truck cab you always do sit closer to the wheel. He still likes it and says it's fine. I do see that area being an issue if you're a large person...

The window open was because in the summer it keeps the air moving better than the fans, and in the winter because the blowers were just hopeless to keep the windows clear...
The last model is good in both these regards and the window stays shut on my one (most of the time!).

It seems the issue isn't the vehicle, it's the (over weight) drivers

No offence :bag:

I’m 6’6, not that heavy tho. Be about 13 stone to. Have few places I have to drive them and find them fine to drive to. Just need to master the technique of getting in and out

In 2018 it’s a bad job if you have to drive with the window down to hold the door shut! And that’s just the start of it
The second to last 1 I drove, had no brakes(would drain the pot by the 3rd press), no PS(pot was cracked at the bottom), bungee chords holding both front doors shut, no working windows as they were chocked shut with wood. A gearstick that just threw dust up and a back door that was shut with a sledge and opened with a crowbar. Great fun cornering on it, the doors would fly open on the bungee chords
It was a “classic” so no MOT yet was a death trap to all around and the people forced to get into it.

Series 2s were like that when they were new. Mine has doors that pop open whenever it goes over a bump. It has no heater as there wasn't enough power to run a heater and a pair of wipers, you had to choose one or the other, and the gears have always been like stirring porridge. The handbrake only ever worked for 10 minutes on MOT day, but luckily won't have to work at all now as it is a historic vehicle.

The nearest thing to a Bedford TK you could get, drive it through the day and spend half the night fixing it.

Quarterly Machinery Auction at McClellands livestock mart today. Among the items was the machinery belonging to a recently deceased farmer who died suddenly. His 4 year old bog standard Defender 90 was sold presented completely in its working clothes, for how much?
Have a guess.
