Just wondering if anyone else had dealings with this firm thanks

How old is the trailer and what load does it carry and over what sort of terrain?
Shackles usually fine if kept tight. Like every other part of every machine, they need checking and tightening as necessary.

Marshall use proprietary axles and suspension from other manufacturers, so they should be as good as any other similar installation. What is it that you want from Marshall? Warranty work? That should be the dealer's responsibility.

Friend (who takes care of his kit like no one else I know ) wasn`t happy with his Marshall trailer. Eventually the then company owner turned up in the yard & gave him a volley of abuse about miss treating the trailer.
He was not impressed with the attitude to customers & now his considerable fleet of trailers is all green

Trailers are always a compromise between design, cost, weight and specification. Personally I don't want or need a trailer that has a ton more tare than the Marshall and I don't use the trailers every day. They cart a few thousand tons of silage every year, fresh in Summer and from the pit seven miles home in Winter, but not intensively.
The Marshall trailers do me well in that context and they are far better built nowadays than they were when the original Mr Marshall [he of the rather flowery public relations] used to penny-pinch on every component possible down to single wire pee-poor hydraulic pipes from lord knows where being fitted. The current generation understand that they can't get away with that any longer. They have excellent competitors and professional customers that buy the best and know what to look for. Poor quality and non-existent back-up just doesn't cut it in the 21stC.

Ring and ask to speak
I phoned Marshall some years ago asking if I could buy new rotaspreader direct as l had received an indepth brochure listing all products but nothing doing which is perhaps just as well as there was something here about the axles not fitted very securely to the body looks like axles and suspension are a weak spot

What make do you recommend?
We have a good few kanes and herrons out of them 2 id def reccommend the kane but there terribly expensive, we bought 2 redrocks this year for a customer at a considerably less price and hes well pleased with them. If ur wantin to change in a few years time again id go for kane as itl be alot easier shifted second hand and command the best second hand value but if ur buyin with the intention of runnin it a long time id go redrock

We had a Marshall dropside trailer for 20 years was unbreakable very good machine, then bought a flat 8 ton bale trailer put a container on it and it fell to bits, lost an axle clean off on a main road, no end of exile and wheel problems but to be fair with the container and full of sheep it would be over the 8 ton by a bit. Traded that in for a herbst which we have had for 12 years never been touched. Just ordered a Marshall rear discharge as half the swapping price of a bunning so🤞

Yeah we had a jpm dropside for a while, absolute rubbish no end of bother and company didnt want to know and the paint was crap, looked twice it’s age when traded in for a bailey that so far has been excellent.

You could probably start a whole thread on poor paint on Irish trailers
but back to the Marshall, they make quite a few specs so my advice is
If you want it to last buy the highest spec at the right money.
One of my Marshall trailers is nearing 20 yo and has covered thousands
of miles but it was the heavier built one at the time.
