Why are these thing announced and then take 2 weeks to start??? Didn't realise covid ran on a timetable.

Because it gives people time to prepare. This is designed to coincide with the opening of non-essential shops which will significantly increase the numbers needing to use public transport and thus make the social distancing that much more difficult in those enclosed spaces.

If they did not work there would be no need for ppe in hospitals. Thats said how good these home made masks will be is another unknown along with peoples ability to use them. You have to be extremely careful how you handle them if not you just end up with germs all over your hands.

You have to remember, those germs on the outside of the mask, would be in your mouth and throat without it!
