I would question if in reality that could really be called farming together!I wonder how forth coming the assessor would be if I asked him how many assesments he planned to do, how many he'd actually done and how much he charges per assesment. I bet he wouldn't tell me so why should I tell him what a big part of my income will be!!!!!
A side note but I do know of a husband and wife who farm together but have there own farms and neither will let the other see what's in the shed, doors are locked and neither has access to the others.WTF
Well they share machinery and a yard but that's as far as it goes.I would question if in reality that could really be called farming together!

What uk grain under RT is produced so differently it is unsustainable? The whole reason for mass balance records is to meet the he requirements of the red 2 biofuels protocol
The U.K. government is mandating 10 % ethanol in petrol
Ethanol in petroleum needs to prove it is from a sustainable source
Red tractor protocol has to meet these requirements
This then allows all U.K. red tractor grain to be used for ethanol without further merchant checks
If a grain merchant has the contract to supply the the ethanol plant and we had no red 2 in red tractor all the farmers supplying would be tied to that grain merchant this could tie seed Fert and Chem supply to the one firm
I sell it for production of brewers grains, I think they might make some other byproducts on the way thoughtIf you sell grain for ethanol do you charge vat ?its not a for food production or livestock feed
One can drink ethanol. If you sell grain for ethanol do you charge vat ?its not a for food production or livestock feed
ddg is livestock feed from the ethanol process the ethanol uses the starch the protein becomes animal feed same with rape meal from biofuelsIf you sell grain for ethanol do you charge vat ?its not a for food production or livestock feed
we know that 99 % of uk wheat comes from sustainable land but we need to be able to prove it to the eth plant or they will just import boat loads that are certified as from sustainable landWhat uk grain under RT is produced so differently it is unsustainable?
I ask you are the Brazilian maize growers doing mass balance? And if they are does it prove anything. I absolutely fail to see how a mass balance proves my wheat is sustainable.we know that 99 % of uk wheat comes from sustainable land but we need to be able to prove it to the eth plant or they will just import boat loads that are certified as from sustainable land
they cannot aford to get caught with the uncertified feed stock or the ethanol will just get imported
If you want to drive around the country stealing grain whether I have done a mass balance would make no difference would it? you would still need to tell me which contract your loading out and leave a collection ticket and your lorries will be on cctv don't see the connection myself.I still fail to see how anybody can run a business and not know what grain is harvested, what has gone, what is sold and yet to go, and what is left. Of all the things to moan about RT, mass balance is not one of them, unless you see the information as commercially sensitive.
I probably need to find out who these people are. I could buy a grain lorry, turn up , get loaded, run off with their grain, and they would be none the wiser.
The irony of all our legislation is because we say we do it, it seems to be accepted that that is what happens. In reality they will import, mass balance or not, price will dictate origin and not a fudge will be given about sustainability. The theory and practice never align, this applies to many aspects of governence. Money will talk and dictate outcomes.we know that 99 % of uk wheat comes from sustainable land but we need to be able to prove it to the eth plant or they will just import boat loads that are certified as from sustainable land
they cannot aford to get caught with the uncertified feed stock or the ethanol will just get imported
So correct, it's painful reading some replies, like it's just accepted that this is the way or that and as mentioned other countries would just laugh if these things were demanded of themDoes anyone else wonder if farmers in other countries bend over and take it up the arse like we get forced to do.can’t imagine the French tolerating this nonsense.
